VISIT OUR SPONSORS It all started one rainy day, with a conversation overheard between my mother-in-law and my five year old daughter. Granny, you see, was teaching this beautiful child the finer points of how a female should relate to her husband. It appeared that this was held as being very important in the sorority. I asked my father-in-law about it and he allowed that it had something to do with human plumbing! Dower, intractable, disagreeable, irresolute, glum, sour, sullen, temperamental, moody, inflexible, brooding, without joy. . . . . and right there every day! So there we have it..... the version passed down in the family of my sainted wife: "If a man speaks in the forest and his wife does not hear him, he is still wrong." Since that time, I have become aware of variations of this same thought, passed down mother to daughter, whispered through the ages. Listed here are a few.
